Submitting a Paper


Before you start

Find the conference's public page and locate the paper submission form. If submissions aren't open yet, you'll see a message with the submission window dates instead of the form.

You'll be prompted to sign up or log in to your Brownbag account before submitting.


Fill out the submission form

Complete the required fields:

  • Paper title
  • Authors (see below)
  • PDF upload
  • Abstract — only appears if the organizer has enabled it
  • Any additional fields the organizer has added

Adding authors

  1. Click ➕ Add Author and search by email address.
  2. If the email matches a Brownbag account, they'll appear in the search results. If not, enter their first name, last name, and affiliation (employer, university, or organization) manually.
  3. Every author must have an affiliation before you can submit.
  4. Select the Presenting author from your author list — this is required.

Note: For coauthors to see the submission on their Brownbag dashboard, they need to sign up using the exact email address you added them with.


Submit

Check the box confirming: By uploading this paper, I confirm I have necessary rights to share this work and agree to the Paper Submission Disclaimer.

Click Submit Paper. You'll receive an email confirmation once your paper has been successfully submitted.


Your Papers on the home page

After you sign in, the Brownbag home page includes a Your Papers section. Each paper is shown as a card with the title, authors, and when it was created.

If that paper has been submitted to one or more conferences, you can open the summary to see which conferences and when each submission was made. Links there take you to the conference's public page.


Acceptance notifications

Organizers currently notify authors of acceptance decisions outside of Brownbag. In-platform notifications are coming soon.
